Comforts

Mmmmm... I made some taco soup yesterday for dinner for the first time in awhile. I had some again today for lunch. Yummy! It's such a comfort food for me. It's been a cold day too. I must admit, I'm about ready for Spring. Bring on the flowers & sunshine. I'm a much happier girl when it's not cold and gray. Thank goodness for things like taco soup, that warm me up and help me through the less than sunny sorts of days.

My top 5 comforts this winter have been:

1. Hot chocolate. Mmmmm...
2. My thermal blanket. I do not sit in this chair without it. It's lightweight but oh so warm and comfy. :)
3. My iTunes. Everything is better to music. :)
4. Late night phone calls from friends. They know who they are. There's nothing more comforting than the voice of a friend.
5. Cuddles and kisses from my kiddos. They're the bestest. :)

A list for Monday...

Sorry to be slacking at posting entries here lately. This round of the sickies got me good. We're still working on getting better. I even deep cleaned the house again today. I love it when the bathrooms and kitchen are are sparkly clean. Hooray me for being awake and with it long enough to accomplish that. Such a good feeling. :)

I had planned to do the easy make a list type entry for today, but couldn't think of any bright ideas. Sooo... I've decided to re-visit a list I did way back when, since the answers will be different today. Ha! Yeah, I know I'm such a cheat - but I want to blog even though I'm not fully awake tonight, so there.

The last thing you bought: I finally got some new Lovespell lotion from Victoria's Secret the other day. Mmmmmmm...

The last crush you had: Ooooh, ummm... I'm not telling. lol

The last restaurant you ate at: Does Quiznos count? Sub-a-liscious.

The last movie you saw: Finding Nemo. :p Elijah has got to find himself a new favorite.

The last time you cried: I cried like 5 times yesterday. I guess I was a bit of an emotional basketcase. We'll blame it on how tired and sick I've been. :p

The last song you sang out loud: Over You by Daughtry. I'm so loving his debut album. I bought a bunch of the songs off iTunes, and Over You just played. Love his voice. Yummy.

The last person you kissed: Elijah.

The last layout you scrapped (or any craft/creation): Um, I beaded a bracelet for Kirsten a few weeks ago. She loved it. :)

The last picture you took: I took a bunch of pictures of my cute kiddos yesterday. I need to download 'em to share.

The last thing you ate: I had a quesadilla for lunch. Yummers. It's almost 8 - I guess I should have something for dinner at some point. :p

The last person you spoke with on the phone: Nina. :)

The last thing you want to do before today is over: Cuddle with Elijah.

Ta Daaaah!

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Brandon had Unchained Melody stuck in his head thanks to the kid who stunk it up horribly on American Idol last week. He got it stuck in my head and between the two of us we were going crazy. Enter little Vern who started me and Kirsten singing "ladeedadeda, ladeedadeda what's the name of that song?" from sesame street. Thanks LV. lol Throw in Lonely, I like Big Butts and This is the Song that Doesn't End for a sing along that made Vern crazy and had my kiddos and I laughing so hard. Fun!

The late nights watching over a fevering babe were not so much fun, but Elijah seems to be doing better now. *crosses fingers* He's building a cool track with the geo trax at the moment, and seems back to his normal self again. I worry like crazy when my kiddos are that sick. I also have a habit of catching their colds and such. Yep, now I'm feeling icky again. :p

Well, with Kirsten off track I have 3 of 4 kiddos home all day for the next few weeks. I wish I could say that we have some exciting things planned, but so far it's been about rest and recouperation. Maybe we'll walk over to the library. I could take 'em out for lunch too. Right now though, I have to admit that I'm wanting a nap.

Have a great day!

Dancing kiddos & groceries.

This has been a very long Saturday. I stumbled into bed after the sun was up, giving kisses to kiddos who were having breakfast as I was going to sleep. I must say I slept better than I have in awhile, which was great. I woke up to find out that Kirsten is feeling as cruddy as I had felt all week, and LV's throat is beginning to hurt... Yeah, it looks like I'm feeling better just in time to take care of kiddos who aren't feeling so hot. I'm so sorry kiddos. This bug has not been a fun one.
I'd say the highlight of today was getting out of the house tonight to go grocery shopping. Lame, I know but it was nice to go out, even if it was just for a quick run to the store. Besides, I love coming home to be greeted by Elijah who's always full of smiles, hugs & excitement. You'd never know he sees me almost all day every day the way he smiles when I walk in the door.
Oh, and if anyone reading this sees us in the near future you have to ask my babe to dance for you. Oh my goodness, it's the cutest! He seriously made my night.
Thanks Elijah!

To the makers of Nyquil

...my gratitude for a product that at least makes a dent in how crappy I feel. It also makes me a little loopy, but hey, it's worth it.
So with Elijah and I both under the weather we've been taking it easy. Lots of hot baths & hot chocolate for me and cuddles and movies for both of us. I think I can safely say that I know both Over the Hedge and Finding Nemo off by heart at this point.
Nina is coming to whisk both of my little boys away so that I can have a break (and maybe a little nap) this afternoon. Thanks Nina! I'd better make sure they're ready to go.

Have a great day!

Hi...

My poor blog. I've been slacking again. I've spent lots of time lately reclaiming my house and working out. Also, Elijah has mastered climbing up onto the kitchen counters, his dresser and the bathroom counter (He loves to play in the sink and with Daddy's alarm clock) so he's keeping me on my toes and requiring a watchful eye at all times.
Good thing he's such a cute and cuddly little monkey.
I've also been helping Brandon get through the last bit of this quarter at school. (Lots of tests and such coming up, as well as putting his portfolio together for photography class.) Kirsten is gearing up to go off track again. Kinda weird after Christmas break - it feels like she just barely went back to school.
Anyhow, we're here. I don't have anything super exciting to report, I just mostly wanted to say "Hi."

Change of plans

April's recipe for frustration:
Wait 30 or so minutes in queue to play WoW. After a few minutes in game start cuddling with your babe who's looking sleepy. Accidentally fall asleep with your cute babe while sitting in your computer chair. Wake up to find out you got kicked from the game and will have to wait in queue to get back in.

I actullay think I'm going to hold off on trying to play at this point. Elijah's still sleeping in my arms, and being one-handed makes it difficult anyhow. I have his sweet face to look at, and my little corner is much warmer with his cuddles. I'll catch up on e-mails, listen to some good Friday night music & enjoy some hot chocolate.

I can't say that I'm frustrated anymore. Just enjoying a quiet Friday. Good old snuggle time with my babe is always a welcome treat.

Happy Thursday!

I went to bed very early last night thanks to the worst headache ever. It hurt to the point of making me nauseated and very very grumpy. The upside to that was waking up early and having a whole morning to accomplish things. Of course, I did pvp a bunch with Arinne - but I also folded laundry, bathed Elijah and taught LV how to roll his own burrito. They were yummy. :) I still need to work out, but thought I'd play for a bit before I do. I should probably fold some more clothes too, but that can wait.
I'm looking forward to working out today. It always makes me feel good. I do think it's almost time to ask to replace my very old, well-used weights. I've had these things for years. I think it shows. lol
