I wish I was an Artist

I am more of a graphic artist. Give me elements that already exist & I can arrange them in a pleasing way in a given space. I'll even create the elements myself if they happen to be things like photos & typography. But draw? Sadly not so much.

I really wish I could, so that I could get the ideas in my head onto paper. My latest idea, and one I really want to keep for future reference is for a table. It incorporates a carved lion, a carved gargoyle & a slab of black marble. It'd be for in my bedroom, and would be a longer-ish narrow table with the lion on one end facing lengthwise with the slab resting on his back & the gargoyle facing forward on the other end holding up the slab, showing off some wingspan.
Can you picture it? I can picture it beautifully in my mind & would love to have it made some day. If I can figure out how to get it onto paper.
I've always loved gargoyles, lions, dragons and such, and to some day have some in my room would be so cool. (I have an older idea for a headboard that involves a carved dragon. Like I said, some day. :p)

And with that, I'd better go find my pillow. My eyes are closing involuntarily as I sit here. :p

Aagh... it's been days again! I'll have to do a recap of sorts.

Um... the weekend...
Vern played the computer to his hearts content all weekend, relaxed, and had chocolate pie for his 35th birthday on Sunday. Happy birthday Vern!
So yeah, a nice quiet, low-key kind of weekend here. Vern's big excitement was his pie. Mine was a making myself a totally yummy salad. It rocked.

Oh, a funny for yesterday.
Well, it starts off with a grumpy though.
Vern called last night to say he was leaving work and would be home in 1/2 hour or so. 2 1/2 hours later I called to see if he was alive or dead somewhere at the side of the road. He was alive, and hanging out over at his mom's house. (They get talking & he forgets the rest of us. My least favorite thing in the world is people who are inconsiderate. A quick "Hey I'm stopping at my mom's" would have been sufficient to let me know he could be hours longer than anticipated.) I was unimpressed, especially because he was supposed to bring home bread to go with his (now cold) dinner. He offered to still go at that point & I told him I'd just walk over when he got home.
~Now for the funny.~
Vern decided to come with me. On a walk. To Peterson's. lol (He doesn't walk anywhere, ever. Except to the car. A true Utahn. :p) So we got to the store, grabbed what we needed & he was like "Oh crud, now we actually have to walk home." Uh yeah. lol That's kinda how it works.
He did make it. And he got to see the sprinkler house that made me lose my pants. (An embarassing story for another day.) And creepy guy corner. He enjoys the smell of his hometown (I hate it - horse poop & stuff. Ick.)
I'm not sure he got brownie points for coming, but it was funny to see him try. I think he maybe even liked the walk. Or at least parts of it. I can see him trying again. Maybe next summer or something? Go Vern! :)

I need to do a Maiah post soon. She's just awesome - I love my princess beautiful. She learned to growl back at me. Soooooo cute! rawr. :)

Yeah, that's all Ive got.
Vent's been quiet & I need a photoshop break - doing the same stuff over & over again makes my eyes all blurry & me all sleepy. Not good. Need to wake myself back up so I can keep going.

Friday

Vern took the kiddos to see Harry Potter tonight. Quiet time for me. Yay!
I've been making sinks and all sorts of things clean & shiny, patching a hole in the wall & playing with Maiah. She finally fell asleep, so off I go to work out & shower. And get some editing done. With Vern & Brandon home all day I haven't had very many chances to sit here - so no photoshop for me yet. But hey, I have shiny sinks & counters, clean sheets, a fixed hole and a happy, sleepy babe.

it's only been forever

...at least it feels that way.
I've been meaning to blog all week, but haven't had a moment where I was able to focus on that until now. So here I am, beating the heat with a peach mango slurpee trying hard to remember what stuff I'd wanted to blog about. :p

Um, yeah. Lots of sunshine-y hot summer days hanging out with the kiddos. I'm still sharing my computer with B, so I get less time here than I'd like. Still trying to catch up on wedding pics - I can't believe how slow things got started there with our crazy rounds of sickies. Finally getting stuff done though. Kenyon and Jeannette will have pictures. Lots and lots of 'em. :)

With less computer time I'm playing WoW even less (if that's even possible). I did log on the other night to get a pic with Lore on his magic carpet. He has just a handful of mounts to go until he gets the drake & achievement. Go Lore go! Such craziness. But yeah, a tauren on a flying carpet is a rare thing. A tauren warrior even. lol yeah, he's crazy. And so totally awesome. :)Well, I owe LV a date & I think he's finally decided where we're headed for lunch, so have a great one peoples!

My Monday

Days without pudding don't tend to be my favorites, but my Monday wasn't so bad. :)
I slept in. Yay!
I spent some time in the sun this morning after logging out of vent. (Was lonely in there.)
I watched Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince at B's insistence.
I tried to teach Kirsten how to make frosting for her cake mix cookies.
Now I totally need to get me some exercise and work on wedding pics.
Should be a fun night!

I am such a slacker. :p
It doesn't help that B's on summer vacation with no computer and has commandeered mine, and that when I do claim it I have work to do. (Getting there Kenyon & Jeannette! Slowly but surely. :)) But yeah, I haven't touched my fireworks pics since I mentioned 'em or stopped in to say hi much or anything. So... hi! :)

I think I'm finally done coughing & stuff too, so I'm totally ready to celebrate! Well, I need sleep first, but tomorrow it's on! First though, a meme. Because that's what I do when I don't have much to say. :p

6 months

At 6 months old Maiah is quite the amazing baby girl. She sits up, crawls, pulls herself to standing (but doesn't last too long), loves to laugh, explore, cuddle and nap with her mommy.She's such a sweet baby. We all love her first-thing-when-she-wakes-up smiles, her sloppy kisses and her giggles.She has the best expressions, the softest, prettiest skin and such pretty blue eyes.

I sure do love my Maiah Joy. I can't believe she's already 6 months old.

Sunday Post

So I took way too many fireworks pics on Saturday & the idea of going through 'em all tonight was daunting, so my 4th of July entry is coming soon. (Sorry, I'm falling asleep here. :p I'll grab one or two for now, but yeah. I'll go through 'em tomorrow during wedding-pic breaks.) Instead I'll mostly share some shots from the walk I took today with Kirsten & Elijah.Kirsten looking beautiful again. She's all sunburnt, but yeah - so beautiful. :)Oh, and this one's of Elijah falling... Poor guy, climbing on the stroller is not a good idea. I hugged him afterward though.My new shoes! lol I seem to have this tradition where I break a pair of sandals on the weekend of the 4th on the way to the festivities, and sure enough we had to get me a new pair on Friday. So crazy.
Kirsten has a cute new pair of shoes too. :)(And a much better tan. Working on that. :p)

I'm seriously happy just to be feeling up to sitting here again. It's been another rough sickies week. :p Anyway, here's a couple of the many fireworks shots for the road. July 1st

Happy July! Happy Canada Day! Happy Wednesday!

I'm hoping for a happy day. :)
I didn't get any sleep last night though - I coughed all night, and every time I cough bad I gag, which would send me running out of bed, so yeah - no sleep for me. In between that stuff my mind wouldn't shut off anyway. Just having a rough moment & hoping that today's sunshine will bring good things. :)

Most years on July 1st I talk about how amazing the fireworks are in Toronto, but from what I've heard they're all cancelled because of some union strike or something. Is that true Robin?! Maybe they're still on at Wonderland or something. I can't imagine a July 1st without picturing laying on the grass somewhere watching a huge fireworks display. Such craziness. It's crazy that it's already July & we're just finally getting some real summer-like weather. We had so many thunderstorms in June it was ...nuts. (I almost said crazy there for the third time in one paragraph. lol I must be craving some lovin' - I tend to call the people I love most in this world crazy, and like I said, just kind of having a rough moment. Elijah's one of the craziest & cutest of those people though, and he's awake. He's just the guy to grab & cuddle with for the rest of the morning.)

I'm aware that I'm slacking in the pics for my blog department. :p I'll fix that soon, I promise. :)
