All is well.

I have no clue what to write about today, but it's been a couple of days so I thought I ought to poke my head in here. I'm struggling once again to be awake, which isn't helping my brain to function. If I was fully awake for once I'm sure I'd have some fabulous ideas concerning what to blog about. But I'm not and I don't. Oh well. Maybe I'll get a nap in today & wake up with something to say. For now a report that all is well in our little neck of the woods will have to suffice.

Today's Summer snapshot is of LV on the Fourth of July. I sure do love this goofy little kiddo. :)Happy Tuesday!

Quick & Easy

Life is good! I'm sitting in my pjs in front of my own personal fan knowing full well I have ice cream in the fridge. We just need a pool in our backyard and I'm set. :o)

I found a quick meme for today. (Yeah, I'm always cheating. Just call me lazy...)

The best summer food is...
I feel like I should say some kind of fruit. I honestly love subs & slurpees in the summer though.
Beach or pool?
Both! I love swimming. Bring on the water!
Happy color... pink or yellow?
Pink!
Hot night on the town - dinner & a movie or dinner & dancing?
Dance with me baby!
I can't tell you where you're going, but it's overnight & you can only take 3 things. They'd be...?
My toothbrush, lotion & clean underwear.

...And here's a summer snapshot for today.Happy Sunday!

33

Vern is 33 today! He celebrated with a nap after work & some ice cream. I'm hoping he had a good day even though it was kind of a same-old type weekday. Maybe we can do something fun over the weekend. :)

Today's summer snapshot is of B squinting in the sun at a family reunion a few weeks back. I wish I had one of Vern, but he's as bad as Elijah about letting people get anywhere near him with a camera in hand.
Happy Birthday Vern!

Sleepy Tuesday

For those who don't know, it's a state holiday here in Utah today. We celebrate the pioneers reaching this beautiful valley, and Brigham Young declaring that "This is the place." It's hard to imagine what the mountains & desert were like before they built the broad roads & irrigated the dry land. I'm glad they did. It's a beautiful place to live. Happy pioneer day to my fellow Utahns!

I'll recognize the holiday by filling out a meme instead of making myself think of things to write about. :)

The first lyrics to pop in your head at the moment are: …I love you, I have loved you all along and I miss you - been far away for far too long. I keep dreaming you'll be with me and you'll never go, stop breathing if I don't see you anymore.

The last time you had your feelings hurt: lol It's happened a fair amount lately. I've been kind of down & probably taking things a little too much to heart. :p One hurt-feelings moment that won’t be easily forgotten was this… Someone whose opinion of me counts for something actually said “you suck” to me and meant it. It was in the context of something that doesn’t matter (a game) but yeah it hurt. Oh man I cried. I have far less confidence around that person than I used to. It isn’t something that could be taken back even if they wanted to. I mean, there's no misunderstanding in a statement like that. It is what it is. There was truth to it so it stung even worse, you know? Oh, and like a week or so later they said it again. I’m still trying to get used to the idea that someone who's opinion I respect thinks that I suck. :o/

Something or someone you think about regularly: My mom. I wonder how she’s doing and if she knows how much I love her. I’m not very good at keeping in touch but I think about her all of the time.

Something you enjoy making: Jewellery! I made a new anklet yesterday.

Someone you’d like to hug: My nephews Chris & Tyler. They give great hugs! It’s been forever.

Somewhere you’d like to visit: Anywhere with a clean beach and palm trees. Somewhere in Hawaii maybe. I’d go crazy taking pics in Hawaii. lol

Something you’d like to say to someone: Actually three someones come to mind…
Jody: Miss you.
Julie: Please update your blog! It’s been forever. I hope you and your family are doing well.
And to B (not Brandon another B): Why? You did something that singles a couple of folks out while making others feel unappreciated and rather excluded. I can’t for the life of me figure out why. It's another one of those "can't take it back" type unfixables. But really, why?

Last week you felt: Icky. I had the worst headache ever. It lasted 3 days. Seriously, it was horrid. I cried when the phone rang it hurt so badly. Vern threatened to take me to the emergency room on day 3 – that’s how bad it was. I tried different pain meds & did a lot of lying down in the dark. I even tried a heating pad as a pillow in 100+ degree heat. Sadly I missed out on doing a lot of things I’d hoped to do because I never did sit up for very long.

Today you feel: Uh, tired. I was up late last night. Hot & sticky too. I'm thinking we need to do a slurpee run.

We're skipping the 24th of July parade and fireworks this year. Brandon & Vern both have their noses in the HP7 book. (Come on boys, it only took me a few hours - I need someone to discuss it with...)
Meanwhile, I'm just hoping for a nap at some point.

Happy Tuesday! Happy 24th! Happy napping!

summer, sleepiness & sunburns

I left my computer on when I left for the store earlier thinking I'd play WoW tonight. Looks like I'm going to blog instead before I crash. I'm so sleepy lately. :p

Good news - My fil is headed home tomorrow. It'll be awesome to have him back at home and hopefully feeling better. Vern saw him today & says that he's looking great. Exciting stuff all aound where that is concerned.

Kirsten & I have been playing with my jewellery-making stuff lately. It's so much fun to play with beads. I even took some pictures in the icky light here at my desk.Little Vern has been bugging for me to make him a necklace. I told him that he had to figure out a pattern he liked & I'd make him one. I'll have to get some leather cording or something and make it "manly" so Vern doesn't ask questions. lol

Well, I have to go over the carpets one more time with the steam cleaner before I can head to bed. :p I really just want to be able to put things back in a more permanent place from the recent flood. (The couch & leather chair are still in the hall awaiting for the carpets to be clean. I've gone over it a few times, making sure I do it well since it was canal water and all. Eeeeeew...)

Sorry for the slowing down in blogging over the summer. The kiddos have been busy getting sunburns and such, Vern has been working hard & worrying about his dad and I've just been trying to stay cool and at least partially awake while attempting to keep my house presentable & kiddos happy.

Mumbo Jumbo

Mmmmmm... We just got home from a late-night food run & I'm enjoying a roast turkey and swiss Market Fresh sandwich from Arby's. Now if I can just get rid of this headache all will be well.

I can't believe how many days have flown by since I last blogged. I guess it's safe to say that the crazy summer schedule has officially kicked in. I was excited to go see Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix today. I loved it like I knew I would. LV was so cute - on the edge of his seat and just loving the whole thing. I was worried it'd be intense for him or something, but no - I jumped more than he did. lol (OK so I was the only one who jumped. Those deatheaters were creepy. :P) Anyhow, other than the movie (which I'll get to see again with the other half of our kids - go me!) I can't even think of anything specific we've been up to. Just trying to keep cool & keep the kiddos happy.

I did manage to get some of the 4th of July pics uploaded. I've been wanting to show off how big my babe looks since I buzzed off his baby hair. He's looking all grown up these days. It's a good thing he's still my cuddlebug. I'm not ready just yet to be without a snuggly little one. :( I love my cuddles. I must admit that I've trained all of my kiddos well though. Even Brandon still gives me great hugs. :) Thank goodness that even though Elijah's looking more grown up he's as cuddly and sweet as ever. Now if he'll just stop growing. :p

...and now that this has sat here for over an hour whilst my headache has pounded awayI think I'll hit publish and go to bed.

Happy, uh... Sunday! blog readers. :)

Our Day

We have this dry patch of grass in our backyard right by my window.
It's kind of ugly, so last night Vern decided to water it. Overnight. A good plan right?

Yes, right up until late this morning when the kids noticed that the basement carpet was wet by my desk. And by the stairs. And, um yeah - a nice half of our family room floor was soaked. The window well by my computer had filled partway, and lots of carpet was very very squishy. Sooooo... Brandon and I took turns all day long with the steamvac trying to suck the water up. We emptied that thing a good 20 times or so. Areas were still soggy when Vern got home from work.
Vern took a few turns on suction duty and pointed out that my computer and possibly the kiddos computer would have to be moved to the dry half of the room. So... the next couple of hours were spent moving the tv upstairs, my desk to where the tv had been, the couch and chair down the hall by the toy room & the kiddo's computer desk to where the couch had been. (Well, we're actually still working on the kiddos desk, but anyhow...)

We ended up taking a break right about then so that we could go on some guild runs we said we'd do in WoW. (It's going to take me awhile to get used to how my desk is situated now, but I got to run a couple of instances with my mage so it was a blast.)

Right as we were finishing up Vern decided to put out the industrial fan to help dry the carpet in my old corner out. (It's still a little mushy as I type.) He asked me if I thought I'd be able to keep Elijah upstairs for the rest of the night, since these fans could easily chop his little hands to bits. Right after I responded with a yes I heard a thunk.
Yeah, that's right - Vern minced his thumb in the fan. Thankfully it was the side of his thumb that caught, so it's still attatched and all. Just shaved, sliced, swollen & bruised. Of course when we were rearranging rooms one of the things I had Kirsten take upstairs from my desk was the neosporin & we have no idea where it landed. So instead he did rubbing alcohol before we got him bandaged up.

Well there you have it. Our fun-filled day. :op I had planned to upload some Fourth type pictures, but with suction duty and no computer until this evening that didn't happen. If tomorrow falls in the normal-type category maybe I can play with photos then. Meanwhile...

Have a great weekend!

one hundred degree week

It's supposed to be hot all this week. 100 degrees plus. Yay. Vern took tomorrow off and we're planning on taking the kiddos swimming and possibly to the Riverton parade. I'm such a slacker - I didn't do a Canada Day post yesterday & this week is looking busy enough that I'm not sure I'll do much better on the Fourth. :p There will be pictures though! I plan on that.
We took a group shot for Grandma Nadine at her family reunion on Saturday. I should probably be working on that instead of blogging, but I wanted to check in.

Anyhow, I'm hoping that anyone else checking in on this little blog of mine has a great week!
Just in case I don't make it back on in time, Happy Fourth of July! Or Canada Day - whatever your flavor. ;o)
