So this morning at around 2:30 Vern woke up thinking he needed to take his bp meds. Instead of falling back asleep he laid there feeling like he'd been running a marathon. At some point he came wandering downstairs to Brandon & I looking distraught. His heart was racing and acting like it was ready to jump right out of his chest, and he was more than just a little freaked out. He tried to relax down here & it didn't stop. So I called his mom and away to the ER we went. Some meds to slow it down later, along with an ekg and an hour of observation & Vern is now aware of a congenial defect he has called Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia. Not life-threatening in and of itself, but could obviously compound other things if he were to have an episode at the wrong moment. (His heart rate was 215-ish - a normal heart rate is somewhere between 50-100.) Mine beats like this. ...hiswasbeatingmorelikethis
So yeah, fun morning. Oh, and today was the day that our local power company had sent around flyers letting us know they'd be working on lines in our area and that there could be outages in the morning/afternoon hours. There was. It's okay - we just took the kiddos to Carls Jr for lunch and playplace time. Hooray.
And then I napped. :)
